here was a time when, every single weekend, Greystones was rockin’ every night until the break o’ dawn.
When, if you weren’t down at that nightclub door by 9.30pm, you might just be looking at a Full House sign for the rest of your evening.
Whether it was Cabana’s, Club Life, Lautrex or, whenever the fancy took thelate, greatVincent Byrne, a latenight Rugby Club freakout, there was always somewhere to go, cocktails to drink, people to shift. We partied like it was 1999 – all night long, of course – even though that momentous year was feckin’ yonks away.
Well, we’re hoping to put together an archive of Greystones’ teenage wildlife. We did manage to source some shots of one of Club Life’s Phaze youth discos, but, despite repeated emails to the Hayden clan (who ran both La Touche Hotel nightclubs) and assurances from that unreliable feck Louie Davitt – formerly the kingpin of Cabana’s – photographs of the town’s clubbing years have been hard to find.
So, have a good rummage through your drawers, people! Did you have your 21st in Club Life? Celebrate your new stone-wash bodysuit in Cabana’s? Mark your Inter Cert results with an all-nighter at The Rugby Club?
Send any pics fit for public consumption without delay by electronic email right here, and we’ll hopefully be able to jigsaw together one great big Greystones night out on the town. In the meantime, you can check out that wide-eyed Club Life youth disco right here.
The pics of a ghostly Club Life – by David Soanes and Johnny Ghia – sourced from a La Touche Hotel collection here. You can also check out Kristina Sandaraite‘s haunting shots inside the derelict hotel here.
