t will be welcome news to those who can’t quite fathom why we don’t have a hotel around here anymore.

Despite the fact that Greystones used to be littered with the feckers.

Young Mark and Mary Molloy can’t quite fathom it either, and so, given that the eight bedrooms they already have in The Horse & Hound tend to be fill up pretty darn fast, they’ve made the wise decision to add a few more.

In the end, they decided on 27 more.

Here’s the notice that will be going into tomorrow’s newspapers…

To protect the long term viability of the business, the owners of The Horse & Hound are seeking planning permission for an additional 27 rooms in a new separate structure to the rear of the existing premises. This will be in addition to the 8 popular rooms already present in the existing main building. Parking will be maintained in a new lower ground floor structure beneath the new rooms.

The design is very traditional and is sympathetic to the existing structure and the surrounding area.

Internally, the rooms will be spacious, bright and comfortable and it is intended to maintain a country, cozy feel with equestrian themes and heritage colour schemes. Think swatches and tweeds in hunting colours.

A successful planning application and investment in this project would considerably add to the regeneration and vibrancy of Delgany Village. This would not only secure the future of The Horse & Hound as a hospitality venue for generations to come, it would also provide a terrific boost to the local economy providing jobs and bringing in tourism expenditure to be enjoyed by all local businesses.

Which will be good news for the local swingers, who just can’t get enough of the Horse’s snazzy outdoor patio. And who can’t wait for all those new members.
