Since the early hours of Friday 15th March, the concerned community of Newtownmountkennedy, Co Wicklow have been staging a 24-hour
Who will be housed here- will it be families or groups of undocumented men?
A spokesperson for the group stated, “We have seen what happened in Wicklow where families were integrating nicely into the local community and were suddenly moved on to accommodate the larger number of single men that required accommodation.

River Lodge Trudder MAR24
ress release from the River Lodge
peaceful protest outside the gates of a derelict children’s home at River Lodge, Trudder House, after it emerged that plans were being considered by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, to use it as an IPAS center housing International Protection applicants.

What are the potential numbers to be housed in the facility?
This brought its own issues to that town that we do not want to see in ours. Our community has grown exponentially year on year but there has been no investment in local services or amenities. Our GPs are at capacity, local children are attending schools outside the locality because the 2 Primary schools are full and we only have a part time Garda Station.

This is Not a peaceful protest.
I informed the protesters today that I disagreed with this protest. I said that I felt that it was racist.
A protester then started to spit on my car.
Peaceful protesters do not spit on people or thier cars.
I do not feel safe driving by this protest anymore, it is thugs at this protest.
There should be garda on full time duty at all times at this protest.
Shame on you. These people are no threat. Get to know them. Offer them work. Learn their stories. Your family could be in this position too.
The Irish homeless, the poor, the vulnerable, the unwell out there in Wicklow for many years… deserve help as a matter of principle priority and urgency..
But they are the forgotten Irish people. Many of them are victims of this rip off system which forced them to the street and all the trouble. Poor medical care for their mental illness and all kinds of health problems ..all that is keeping many Irish people in street and vulnerable..no bed no hot food..
Now we have a system who is allowing mass migration of all sorts to the Europ especially Ireland.
Ireland is a small country and the system is trying to empress the EU..by taking all kinds of migration with no limits whatsoever..
Yes there are services who profit from migration of all sorts.. including the property market business…..
The Irish people need to use that building as a matter of respect and dignity for the Irish people who sacrificed their lives to protect Ireland during the British evil occupation…..
One question.
Why is it some refugees are able to travel back home for visiting their lives on and back to the Irish system? Why is it asylum seekers ones they get their papers sorted out…They could go back and forth to the countries they are running away from?
Why is it people with Irish blood are finding it almost impossible to get Irish passports..but migrants can get Irish passports…?
The Irish people need to be respected by the system.
Enough control and manipulation.
Asylum system is open to abuse of all sorts in all Europe.
Those who are genuinely in need of help yes all fine they should get it… But there are just far too many just unbelievable…to see this in a small island..like Ireland. It is not fair for the locals too because they get pushed back in queue…
Having 1000 migrants in a small village of a few 1000s people could be seen by different people in different ways…..some may see it as a good thing others may see as a bad thing…
We are all humans after all. We all witnessed natives population becoming the minority in different countries throughout history.
Ireland and many others countries are heading to that way.
Some people will not mind but others do mind.
But the house in question should stay for the Irish in need of help or services in that window location.
The asylum seekers and refugees the government will need to find them a suitable location which will not disadvantages the Irish nor to cause them any inconvenience.
Maybe those politicians who aren’t making no end to the mass migration of all sorts , they should house them all in their big houses and castles…
