Pimped Harbour Crapper Down The Toilet

Plans for snazzy new crappers down by Joe Sweeney’s have been put on hold after plans to go private with our privates business have been abandoned by Greystones Municipal District Council.

The opportunity for a commercial partnership in the refurbishment and the running of the long-closed harbour public toilets hit a major blockage when the numbers just refused to add up.

According to District administrator Myra Porter, the procurement procedure turned out to be more complicated than first envisaged, and has been driving everyone involved around the u-bend. “We can’t really go that route,” explained Ms Porter. “The council would need to retain control of the site, and could only licence it to someone for a fixed period of seven years. This would not be attractive to any commercial operator.”

The public toilets were closed because of the high costing of operating and maintaining them, and that problem hasn’t changed. So, off to the South Beach with you.
