Olivia Ninard Ella Mc Aulay & Sadhbh Murphy’s Ditzy Discs

wo budding Kilcoole designers have found their joint creation making this year’s Junk Kouture finals next month.

Taking place on May 6th, Olivia Ninard Ella Mc Auley and Sadhbh Murphy got through on a wild card.

The Colaiste Chraobh Abhann student’s creation, Ditzy Discs, was inspired by the fact that 5.5m compact discs are thrown out each year.

With just over 3.7m of them landing in the Kilcoole Thrift Shop.

Using those discarded discs and a skirt from an earlier Junk Kouture design, Olivia and Sadhbh will certainly be one of the brightest creations at this year’s final. Once the model catches the light just right.

Other Wicklow finalists from the south east region include Optical by Blessington Community College plus Virtual Reality and Rising From The Ashes from Loreto Secondary School.

With each design being made from recycled materials, we have our fingers crossed for Olivia and Sadhbh.

One thing’s for sure, they’ll have plenty of music on hand for the after party.
