Ivan Told To Sling His Hooks

Following the fisherman’s protest at Greystones harbour over the lack of a promised mooring site on May 11th, Ivan Toole has continued to land his catches in his hometown.

This morning though, the Golden Venture was unable to do so, with an access road blocked, and a letter of warning issued by the harbour master, Bernard Gallagher.

The letter, issued on Thursday, May 30th, states…

Dear Ivan Toole

I again inform you that your vessel, Golden Venture, is moored illegally.

Your vessel is using safety ladders to secure mooring lines.
This is completely unacceptable and you must remove your vessel without delay.

You are also in breach of the harbour bye laws.

Parking vehicles illegally beside Coast Guard site.

You have been getting trucks in to the harbour and blocking the Coast Guard slip without harbour master approval.

You have been getting fuel deliveries to the Coast Guard slip which is in breach of all safety legislation, and without permission.

There is no safety statement or risk assessment for fuel filling in this area so under health and safety regulation you are total in beach of state laws as well as harbour bye laws.

None of the above are permitted in Greystones Harbour Marina.

You must stop all of these actions at once.

Posting on social media this morning, Ivan Toole countered by stating, ‘I think the time is coming to do our own Blocking!’.
