son, Gary, pulled together seven books of invaluable archive material, proving that we’re all part of one long, fascinating tale in this town.
Working on a post-1916 theme, highlights included St Laurence students presenting their project on Dr James Ryan and his wife, Mairin Cregan, Ms Catherine Wright giving an introduction to Genealogy, Sean Boyne examining the life and times of Emmet Dalton, Dr Mary McAuliffe on women during the early part of the Irish Free State, Dr Owen McGee giving a presentation on Arthur Griffith, Irish Times journalist Stephen Collins on Decade Of Commemoration and, closing the festival, Ms Sinead McCoole on Lady Lavery.
Now in its 28th year, we talked to one of the organisers behind the festival, Rosemary Raughter – of the Greystones Archaelogical & Historical Society – about keeping those old flames burning…
