Greystones Lawn Bowlers Unfurl The Flags

he bould Seamus Eager has been in touch to let us know that the Greystones Bowling Club they had a fine unfurling on Sunday.

Because, you know, every summer, that’s how the Greystones Bowling Club roll.

Marking the new season, the unfurling of the flags was followed by a roll-up.

And before you get too excited, hippies, that’s a bowling term. Not your cue to slip some Bob Marley onto the intercom.

Having taken place on Sunday, April 3rd, this was the first time the club has been fully open since September 2019. Thanks to that Covid nonsense.

“It was the perfect day for our return to active service,” says Seamus. “And there were, of course, lots of happy bowlers present, so glad to be back on our hallowed turf in Burnaby Park.”

The unfurling was conducted by club president Elizabeth Eager, ladies captain Anne O’Loughlin and men’s captain Aidan Kelly, whilst the executive members, players and new arrivals led the cheer.

“It was great to see some new people down as well,” finishes Seamus. “Lawn bowling is for any age. No matter what you’re going through, it’s always good to have a little mellow in the mix…”
