Better Call Paul

A happy lad…

t was only after we’d surprised Paul with his Top Of The Shop 2018 award that manager Paddy Holohan reminded us that this immensely popular SuperValu superman is heading to the Special Olympics in March. 

Due to leave for Abu Dhabi in about six weeks, young Mr Condren is the man in goals for the Ireland team.

So, truly, he’s a keeper.

That’s something we already knew, of course, by the sheer amount of loving comments left with all those votes Paul received in this year’s Top Of The Shops competition, our annual search to find the friendliest, most helpful members of staff in Greystones. Mostly, when it comes to such votes, people just pop down the name. With Paul, the love was very apparent, as one recommendation after another came pouring in.

‘His smile is infectious and will cheer you up on even the worst of days,’ reckons Mary McKeon. For Cormac, he ‘brightens up everybody’s day, always in a positive mood – it’s contagious‘. Perhaps Karen wrapped it up best by saying, ‘If you’re having a bad day, Paul’s the one to make it brighter, and put a smile on your face.’

We swung by this afternoon to present Paul with his framed certificate, and, naturally, he was hard at work, packing shelves.

With Emma Fox from AIB Greystones (who kindly sponsored the competition) and Shane from SuperValu in tow, we managed to catch a few words from the champ…
