reystones is pretty used to getting crapped on when it comes to our train service, but there was good news for Wicklow Town in January…Â
That’s because train fares for Wicklow commuters were to be slashed as the NTA Fare Strategy, with journeys from Wicklow to Connolly Station reduced by a whopping 43% or €4.45 down to just €6 from €10.45.
This is part of a restructuring of fares that will see a consistent cost per kilometre for the distance between the origin and destination journey. And back again.
Due to kick in this September, the National Transport Authority have now issued a statement – they’ve hit a snag.
Turns out updating the Leap Cards and gate validations needs a little more time and effort on the technology and administration front.
Because nine months just ain’t enough, baby.
All of which means that the NTA have pushed their price reductions in the new Dublin Commuter Zone until 2025.
Cleverly, they haven’t said which month in 2025. Just in case, you know, there are more leaves on the tracks.
