Wanna See Some Trees Grow…?

he Reforest Nation gang have sent out a special invitation to de peoples to take a stroll up Ballydonagh Lane to, well, see some trees grow.

Not just any trees, of course, but the 30,000 planted just over a year ago up Kindlestown way.

A well-oiled green machine – with sponsorships up the ying-yang (including concrete jungle bunnies Cairn Homes) – Reforest Nation worked alongside EcoSikh Ireland in a series of one-day, 10,000-trees-at-a-time-sweet-Jesus sessions up beside the Octagon.

Thanking those who took part in the planting, a Reforest Nation spokesperson, “This is the largest Miyawaki-style forest in all of Europe, a testament to your support and the power of the community. The Miyawaki method transforms tiny saplings into a full-grown forest in just ten years by planting trees close together, creating a thriving mini-ecosystem.”

A thriving mini-ecosystem that has been dubbed The Freedom Forest, “in honour of all the refugees and displaced people around the world who are fighting for their own freedom”.

Taking place on Ballydonagh Lane opposite the Kindlestown Woods entrance, the big day is Saturday, September 7th, the time, 12pm.
