Today Taoiseach Simon Harris is announcing that 30 Wicklow Tidy Town Groups are set to benefit from a special grant of between €1,000 and €4,000.
This level of investment from government in our Tidy Town Groups demonstrates its commitment to communities, the Taoiseach said, whilst paying tribute to the tireless and dedicated members of Tidy Town groups across the country and in Wicklow.
Speaking today, Harris said: “Today I am thrilled to announce 30 of Wicklow’s Tidy Town Groups are going to benefit from a special grant of between €1,000 and €4,000.
“This is good news for members of the groups, good news for the community and shows the true recognition my Government have for the tireless and dedicated work of Tidy Town groups right across the county and country.
“I have always been in awe of the amazing work done by Tidy Town individuals.
“They are truly inspirational and serve the community in so many positive ways.
“They are the ones who preserve our towns and villages, make them cleaner, sustainable and vibrant.”
Included in the funding are Greystones and Bray with €4,000 each, Wicklow with €3,000, and Delgany, Newcastle, Ashford, Enniskerry, Newtown and Kilcoole with €2,000 each.
Other Wicklow groups receiving funding including Annacurra, Arklow, Aughrim, Avoca, Baltinglass, Blessington, Carnew, Donard, Dunlavin, Glenealy, Grange Con, Kiltegan, Knockananna, Lacken, Laragh Glendalough, Rathdangan, Rathdrum, Roundwood, Shillelagh, Stratford-on-Slaney and Tinahely.
“Thanks to Tidy Town groups we feel that little bit prouder of the communities we live in.
“Volunteers working in these groups prove that small gesture can make for a better town and foster that sense of belonging within the community.”
