The not-so-good news is, you’re going to be pretty darn knackered
“We wanted to do something special together as a family in honour of our dad, our mum and our sister,” explains Louise, “who have all sadly passed away.
Speaking of the 2023 climbs, Louise says, “All three peaks in one day was challenging, but each time it got difficult, we remembered what our loved ones had gone through, and it kept us going.

Great Sugar Loaf Pic Karol Sciubisz
appening on Saturday, July 6th, there’s a 3-peak challenge around
these here parts for the mighty Purple House.
The good news is, each of the three peaks in question are all visible from Greystones.
The not-so-good news is, you’re going to be pretty darn knackered
after conquering the trio.
Going under the banner of The Beirne 3 Peaks Challenge, the climbs have been put together by Louise Beirne in memory of three much-loved and much-missed family members…
“We wanted to do something special together as a family in honour of our dad, our mum and our sister,” explains Louise, “who have all sadly passed away.
We wanted to focus on doing a positive activity to help raise funds for Purple House Cancer Support, a service that has provided valuable support to our family.”
Speaking of the 2023 climbs, Louise says, “All three peaks in one day was challenging, but each time it got difficult, we remembered what our loved ones had gone through, and it kept us going.
We were also rewarded with fantastic views over the Wicklow mountains and the coast. It’s a really special day.”
The three peaks are the Big Sugar Loaf, Little Sugar Loaf and Bray Head, and the challenge, say the organisers, offers a special way to honour and remember our loved ones that have passed away from cancer, or those living with cancer, with the climb including an inscription of their names on each participant’s T-shirt.
