Given that he’s one of our favourite funny men, we’ve spoken with Adam Burke on quite a few occasions over the past four years.
Mainly because the man is kind enough to put on a top-of-the-range, Grade A, oven-ready and comedy show every month in The Harbour Bar, and not charge a penny in.
Which makes The Hardy Har Comedy Club‘s third Thursday outings GG’s most cherished night of the month. Beyond Peanut Butter Tuesdays, of course.
One of those rare comedians who doesn’t put career first – a beautiful wife and three so-so kids bringing a little life perspective, man – Adam Burke simply enjoys what he does. And so does his dad, Joe, who attends pretty much every stand-up show his son does.
And this year, that means Joe has been jumping in his car on a regular basis, as Adam heads out on the road with Tommy Tiernan for a nationwide tour, puts together a comedy tent for the upcoming Groove festival, gets ready to share the stage at Waterford’s All Together Now, and prepares for a second solo show at Dundrum’s Mill Theatre, after the first night sold out.
The show is called The Big Happy Head On Ya!, and that second night, on Saturday, July 14th, is actually a fundraiser for Suicide Or Survive. Go check it out here.
In the meantime, we caught up with Adam at his second home to have a ramble chat about being funny, being money, and being thankful for what you’ve got…
