This morning, An Taoiseach Simon Harris has confirmed that six local schools in Wicklow will join the Arts Council’s new Creative Schools programme.
Speaking this morning, the Taoiseach said “I am delighted to confirm that six local schools in County Wicklow will be joining the Arts Council’s new Creative Schools programme”.
“Under this programme, schools will each receive a €4,000 grant and will have access to working with a professional Creative Associate for two years, who will help support schools develop their own creative projects”.
“Encouraging our young people and students to engage with the arts will greatly benefit their development throughout their education, and this programme seeks to foster creative thinking and exploration, skills which will stay with them for life”.
“County Wicklow has long had a deep connection with the arts, with a huge array of incredible artists working across the county”.
The list of successful Wicklow Schools are:
⦿ Saint Francis National School ⦿ Delgany National School ⦿ Sacred Heart National School ⦿ Donard National School ⦿ St. Mary’s and St. Gerard’s National School ⦿ Gaelcholáiste Na Mara
The Taoiseach concluded “Hopefully this programme will help to encourage some of Co. Wicklow’s future artists, and I look forward to seeing the work of Co. Wicklow’s students over the course of this programme”.
