he delightful and delovely Simon Whelan from the Greystones & Delgany Sustainable Energy Community has been in touch about their cunning 2023 eco plans.

With their shiny new website up and gunning last year, the GDSEC gang are also upped their game when it comes to hitting net zero emissions around here.

The big step in 2022 was looking at solar power options, and helping anyone in Greystones and Delgany who may be interested in taking that step.

So you can save on energy bills whilst also helping save this floating rock we all live on.

Having helped 10 homes last year, here’s the lowdown for 2023…

We are currently looking for 10 or more Greystones and Delgany residents who are interested in installing solar PV on their homes this year.

As with last year, we want to join together as a group, assess the different houses for what systems will work best, and then approach contractors together to get prices.

Once again, we will look for discounted costs based on our numbers as acting together will offer the best value and ensure we get the best systems for our money.

In 2022, we installed a total of 40kW of solar panels, which will produce about 39,200 kWh of clean electricity annually – offsetting 12,277 kg of CO2 emission per year.  Which is akin to planting 500 trees annually.
