Local election candidate for Greystones Local Electoral Area Jack Commons was joined on the campaign trail over the weekend by Tánaiste Micháel Martin, European Election candidate Cynthia Ní Mhurchú, and Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly.

Jack is standing in the local election for Greystones LEA on June 7th, and said it was great to hear such positivity from people throughout the canvass of how they are keen to see a young candidate to bring new ideas.

Jack said: “Campaigning in my own constituency with the Tánaiste, European candidate for Ireland South Cynthia Ní Mhurchú, and Minister for Health has been amazing. We met many people along our way, and they have a real appetite for a younger candidate to step up and present new ideas about the issues facing local people and families.

“These issues are important to me as a young person too, and I relate to a lot of issues they have spoken to us about. We visited people at the DART station and heard of their concerns on transport and the rail line, we met local representatives of the GAA clubs, and local businesses on Main Street who were telling us how they have been running through families for generations.”

“We visited a local pub called the Burnaby, where my grandfather was manager for over thirty years. It was great to go in and speak to locals with the Tánaiste, Cynthia, and Minister Donnelly”.

Reflecting on the success of the day Commons said, “It’s great to talk to local people about local issues and have two representatives from government, and one potential European representative with me to hear the concerns on the ground. It was an invaluable experience.”

“My priorities throughout my campaign have been transport and infrastructure, schools, and housing.

“Greystones needs a young voice on the local council who can relate to the issues facing constituents and I am proud to say I will be that voice if elected on June 7th.”
