New funding for heritage projects in Wicklow has just been announced today.
With €137,000 coming our way under the Structures At Risk Fund & the Built Heritage Investment Scheme, a number of local landmarks will be getting some much-needed pimping over the coming months.
Among the local landmarks benefiting from the free dosh are St Crispin’s Cell, Christ Church in Delgany and, eh, Nature’s Gold.
Apparently Broad wants a second helicopter pad on the roof.
Also getting some makeover moolah is Kilmurray Catholic Church, even though it’s in Newtownmountkennedy.
Mad.
Speaking on the funding, local Fine Gael TD Andrew Doyle stated that it was “important to note that the works on these protected structures will generate significant employment in the conservation and construction industries, which is good news for local job creation”.
Also, in the case of Crispin’s Cell and Christ Church, we’re only passing through. Those buggers are going to be around forever.
