Taoiseach Simon Harris has today announced €15,000 in funding to improve swimming conditions at Wicklow Harbour and Greystones South Beach.
The funding will fund access to ladders, handrails, demarcation buoys and beach access matting.
Speaking today, Taoiseach Simon Harris said: “I am delighted to announce new funding for outdoor swimming projects in my home county.
“As we head towards warmer days it is vital we have decent outdoor swimming infrastructure for all to enjoy.
“The funding announced today will improve the access to ladders, handrails and beach access matting making access to swimming easier.
Taoiseach Simon Harris added: “Outdoor swimming has incredible benefits for physical and mental health.
“We are lucky in Wicklow to have some of the most beautiful outdoor swimming spots in the country.”
The funding is part of the Outdoor Swimming Projects initiative.
“As a TD for Wicklow I will always seek to get measures and funding put in place to ensure swimming is done in a safe and comfortable environment.
“I know many swimmers have been seeking to improve these swimming locations so I have no doubt this funding will come in handy for the sunny days to come.”
