Looking for in-home carer with experience in ID, non-verbal autism and epilepsy, Saturday afternoons in Charlesland 3 to 4 hours.

Position is funded through HSE Personal Budget via homecaredirect.ie, who will vet and approve. Paid weekly by broker.

Gracie is 24 and autistic. We need someone to mind her in our home on Saturday afternoons while we go out. She also has epilepsy but it is well controlled, one seizure every month or so.

She likes gentle low-key people who follow her lead, and doesn’t like to be overwhelmed.

Gracie can be very charming and likes to get her own way. She is content in her own company and doesn’t like to be fussed over. She is completely independent in toileting but you will need to follow her to the bathroom to make sure she washes up afterwards. She mostly gets her own snacks.if she wants help she will request it.

She uses picture communication (Grace App) as she is mostly non verbal. Can ask for what she wants in single words. Full trading in using Grace App and visual communication support provided through CattsCourses.com

We are a positive behaviour support household.

Hours are flexible and If you are studying, enjoy reading or just chilling out, you will have plenty of time to do this as she does not want to be ‘entertained’. She just wants to know you are there to assist her when needed.

If you work in a school or day service Monday to Friday this will not affect your current job. Home Care Direct will handle all tax, etc. If you have a friend you could alternate with, we can accommodate that too.

Gracie can get very anxious about change, so the right person will be punctual, consistent and a good communicator.

Her seizures are infrequent and quite manageable, but you must have experience with Epilepsy in order to keep her safe during and afterwards.
