or anyone taking a stroll by Greystones harbour this morning, it must have looked like the world’s biggest Macarena was underway.
In truth, the town’s various emergency services were involved in a little pre-run warm up.
As opposed to any kind of bump agus grind.
Mainly because 55 hardy souls from the fire service, coast guard, civil defence, first responders, paramedics, mountain rescue, Poseidon lifesaving and the gardaí were all setting out on a fun run from Greystones to Bray today in aid of Purple House Cancer Support.
And they were doing so in their uniforms. On this hot, sunny Sunday. The big eejits.
The reason for this slightly bonkers bonanza of our brave emergency service heroes chasing invisible criminals for two hours was to raise funds for Bray’s mighty Purple House Cancer Support.
It goes without saying then that this is a run that is very much worthy of your support.
So, should you be feeling glad that you didn’t have to run from Greystones to Bray in your work clothes today, go throw a few shekels into the hat right about here.
And a big thank you to John McGowan for capturing the day too. Still running, John hopes to be back at Crowe Abbey by Tuesday afternoon.
