ust like the Irish, the Italians like to have big, big, big families, but, mamma agus mia, just how many Taglientis are there around here…?

We counted at least 3,726 last night, each one of them to show their love and support for Benny T on this packed benefit night at The Hot Spot. 

Yep, the Taglientis know how to come together and throw a serious party. Some of the gang – such as daughters Sabrina and Nadia – were the hostesses with the mostesses, whilst others made sure all the raffle tickets were sold, and that everyone had a fresh drink, a good seat, and, most importantly, at least two sandwiches in each hand.

It made for something very closely resembling a Taglienti house party. Only in a house big enough to have three playrooms, a full bar, and not one but two kick-ass acts to help everyone rock the night away.

The reason we were all here, of course, is to ensure that Benny gets that much-needed downstairs restroom built, plumbed and polished. And the good news is, it’s almost there. Almost. 

As the night kicked in, everyone kicked back, old friends meeting up for the first time in a long, long time, and soon happily cocooned in that middle, limbo room. Which meant that The Chosen Few casually went about proving just why they are one of Wicklow’s finest covers bands, warming up this large crowd for only the second performance for The Artist Formerly Known As Alan Adamson.

Sweetly shambolic, effortlessly cool and utterly committed, this Elvis might as well have been playing The Las Vegas International Hotel.

All he needed was a mic, that backbeat, and a girl to swing his hips with…
