Everybody Needs Good Neighbours…

When the living is easy…

t’s always around Christmas – that potentially most depressing and lonely time of year – when we put the call out for some neighbourly TLC.

With the town seemingly still recovering from a long, long Covid jetlag that found people becoming comfortable with being isolated, and then embracing it, the elderly need that human connection more than ever.

With this in mind, we reckon if everyone takes care of anyone elderly or vulnerable in their neighbourhood within a 10-house radius, life will be an awful lot easier – and sunnier – for those living alone at Christmas.

It can be as simple as popping in for tea agus biscuits, heading out for tea agus biscuits, or just grabbing their bare necessities from the shops. 

Bottom line, it’s about letting someone know, hey, you matter. Unless you multiply yourself by the speed of light. Then you is energy.

So, take a look around, and see if there’s anyone living nearby that might be all alone, and a little too embedded to leave the house right now. And go say hello. 

Should take no more than five minutes. And it’ll give that elderly person a warm feeling inside for at least 24 hours.
